•The South Coast Linux Users Group will meet in the Chetco Community Public Library small conference room, 405 Alder St., Brookings. •Southwestern Oregon Community College will release local scholarships and give a financial aid presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the Brookings-Harbor High School library, 625 Pioneer Road, Brookings. •Curry County Master Gardeners will have a plant clinic from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oregon State University Extension Office at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. Master Gardeners will be available to help with plant identification, plant problems, diseases and insects, and to give suggestions on what might grow best in the area. •Brookings-Harbor Redshirts invites the public to help pack boxes to send to American troops serving overseas. The group meets at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 15803 Highway 101, Harbor. Donations of food, snacks and hygiene items are always welcome. The group also accepts the address of any American soldier serving overseas. •Civil Air Patrol meets at 6 p.m. at the CAP building at the Brookings Airport at the end of Parkview Drive. The organization teaches leadership, aerospace education and emergency services to children in sixth through 12th grade. Pilots and non-pilots are welcome to attend meetings. •Brookings-Harbor Redshirts gathers for its monthly meeting and potluck at 6 p.m. at Brookings Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Drive. The group supports American troops overseas and is a nonprofit group with no dues. Anyone is invited to join and see photos and letters from troops, help pack boxes to be sent as well as share the address of any American soldier serving overseas. Saturday, Dec. 3

•Nature’s Coastal Holiday light show will shine from 5 to 9 p.m. at Azalea Park. General admission is $1. Refreshments will be served. The show will be nightly through Saturday,  Dec. 24.

•Trash Dogs will meet at 9 a.m. in front of the Fred Meyer Garden Center to clean up trash in Southern Curry County. Wear work clothes. Water, cookies, gloves, and a first aid kit will be provided.

•A Christmas Bazaar and Open House will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. Handcrafted items, gift memberships and certificates and tickets for “Basket of Cheer” will be sold. Refreshments will be served.

•Free guided tours of salmon spawning areas on the Mill Creek Watershed are set for 1 to 4 p.m. every Saturday in December, organized by the Redwood Parks Association and Redwood National and State Parks. Preregistration is required by calling 707-465-6191.

•A Craft and Holiday Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Smith River Community Hall, 241 First St.

•Oasis Shelter Home provides a haven for women and their children to be free of domestic violence, sexual abuse and resulting homelessness. •The Pregnancy Care Center – also known as P.C.C. Connections – of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
