Wednesday, June 6

•Bugzone Summer Program for children 4 years ­old through sixth grade will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Community Church, 607 Pacific Ave., Brookings. The event takes place every Wednesday through Aug. 15 and includes games, crafts, Bible stories and snacks.

•The Wednesday Farmers Market will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chetco Grange Community Center, 97895 Shopping Center Ave., Harbor. 

•Kids Club meets at Living Waters Foursquare Church, 1136 Fifield St., at 7 p.m. Children 3 years old through sixth grade are invited.

•Curry County Master Gardeners will have a plant clinic from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oregon State University Extension Office at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. Master Gardeners will be available to help with plant identification, plant problems, diseases and insects, and to give suggestions on what might grow best in the area. Saturday, June 9

•Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 966 will serve a barbecued chicken dinner from 5 to 8 p.m.at the VFW Hall, 507 Pacific Ave., Brookings. The cost is $10 and includes a quarter chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, dessert and a drink. Proceeds support local veterans.

•A pork loin dinner will be served at Smith River United Methodist Church, 121 Beckstead Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m. Dinner includes pork, mashed potatoes, veggies and a roll. Donations will be accepted.

Donations of shoes in any condition are accepted. Excess shoes are donated to an organization that serves in Africa.

•The Caregiver Support Group meets from 2 to 4 p.m. in the second floor activity room at Sea View Senior Living Community, 98059 Gerlach Lane, Harbor. A KEYConversations Advance Directive workshop will be offered by Coastal Home Health and Hospice. Tuesday, June 12

•South Coast Astronomy Group meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Orford Public Library, 1421 Oregon St. Membership is free and all are welcome to attend.

•Vietnam Veterans of America will meet at 6 p.m. at the Brookings Elks Lodge lower level, 800 Elk Drive, Brookings. A potluck dinner follows the meeting. All veterans are welcome.

•The Pregnancy Care Center of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. The center is open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Client classes are offered on Tuesdays. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The resource center also hosts Tea at Ten group meetings every Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. For information, call 541-469-2072.
