Wednesday, July 20

•Brookings-Harbor Soccer League and the Elks Lodge will have a cleat and shin guard exchange from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Kalmiopsis Elementary School soccer field on Ransom Avenue. Master Gardeners will be available to help with plant identification, plant problems, diseases and insects, and to give suggestions on what might grow best in the area. •Al-Anon Family Group meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 209 Wharf St., Brookings. The group is a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who meet to share their experience, strength and hope in an effort to solve common problems.

•The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Addiction Recovery Program meets at 7 p.m.  at the church, 770 Elk Drive, Brookings. •Civil Air Patrol now meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday at the CAP building at the Brookings Airport at the end of Parkview Drive. The organization teaches leadership, aerospace education and emergency services to children in sixth through 12th grade. Pilots and non-pilots are welcome to attend meetings. •The Pirates of the Pacific Festival has event scheduled all day at the Port of Brookings Harbor. Festivities continue Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24.

•Al-Anon meets at noon at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 401 Fir St., Brookings. The group encourages people with friends or family members whose drinking affects their lives to share experiences, strengths and hope. For information, call 541-469-5504.

•Sole Pursuits hosts a hike led by Forester Jim Rogers along a re-established mining trail up Panther Creek, a tributary of the Elk River. This primitive trail includings climbing stream banks and over a few logs. Monday, July 25

•The annual Chetco River Check Up will begin at 10 a.m. at Loeb State Park on North Bank Chetco River Road. Community volunteers are needed to help take the temperature of the river and clean up trash in the riverbed.

•Azalea Quilt Guild meets in the Driftwood Estates Mobile Home Park community room, 16063 Driftwood Lane, Harbor. Fun day will begin at 10 a.m. Ilona Gyurko will teach a quilt-as-you-to technique. Tuesday, July 26

•Civil Air Patrol for Seniors  meets at 6:30 p.m. at the CAP building at the Brookings Airport at the end of Parkview Drive. •Oasis Shelter Home provides a haven for women and their children to be free of domestic violence, sexual abuse and resulting homelessness. •The Pregnancy Care Center – also known as P.C.C. Connections – of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
