•Curry County Master Gardeners will have a plant clinic from 9 a.m. to noon at the Oregon State University Extension Office at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. Master Gardeners will be available to help with plant identification, plant problems, diseases and insects, and to give suggestions on what might grow best in the area. •The Chetco Library Book Discussion Group will meet at 3 p.m. in the Chetco Community Public Library small meeting room, 405 Alder St., Brookings. The group will discuss “The Parrot Who Thought She Was a Dog,” by Nancy Ellis-Bell. Everyone is welcome.

•Volunteers will cleanup styrofoam from the docks that were washed ashore at Mill Beach during the March 11 tsunami. Volunteers will meet at the beach at 10 a.m. 

Friday, Jan. 20

•Volunteer tutors for Southwestern Oregon Community College will meet from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Curry campus community room, 96082 Lone Ranch Parkway, Brookings. Community members who would like to volunteer a few hours a week to tutor students are welcome.

•Southern Curry Dirt Riders Association will have a one-day membership signup for 2012 China Creek off-road motorcycle riding from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Coastal Heating, 307 Tanbark Road, Brookings. The cost is $25 and proof of insurance is required. For information, call 541-661-1926.

•The Brookings Harbor Tea Party will be sponsoring a constitutional seminar featuring Jim Huffman, dean emeritus of Lewis and Clark Law School. He will be discussing current threats to the Constitution and answering questions. All interested parties are invited to attend.

Georgia Cockerham, vice president of the National Board of Compassionate Friends, will lead a program about the bereavement group. The program will be followed by refreshments and fellowship. •The Pregnancy Care Center of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. The center is open from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays. Client classes are offered on Tuesdays. •Oasis Shelter Home provides a haven for women and their children to be free of domestic violence, sexual abuse and resulting homelessness. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
