Monday, Sept. 5

•The Democratic Party of Del Norte County will host a Labor Day breakfast, featuring state lawmakers, from 9 to 11 a.m. at  Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City.

•Tri-Cities Bridge Club plays at noon at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 401 Fir St., Brookings. Entry fee is $4 per session. For partnerships, call Dorothy Nixon at 541-469-1901 or manager Dottie Ellis at  541-661-1015. Games are also played at noon on Thursdays.

•Community Kitchens offers free meals from noon to 1 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave., Brookings. Donations are welcome. Everyone is invited. For information, call 541-469-3030.

Tuesday, Sept. 6

•Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 757 will meet at 6 p.m. in the Brookings Elks Lodge lower level, 800 Elk Drive.

•The second annual Lower Rogue River Salmon Derby will take place daily through Saturday, Sept. 10, in Gold Beach. The event benefits the Indian Creek Fish Hatchery. Derby tickets are available at Rogue Outdoor Store, Lex’s Landing, Jot’s Resort and the Gold Beach Visitor Center.

•The Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor meets at noon at Sea View Senior Living, 98059 Gerlach Lane, Harbor. For information, visit www.district5110.org/brookings.

•The Del Norte International Folkdancers invites adults who want to get moving to join the group from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Del Norte Senior Center, 1765 Northcrest Drive, Crescent City. No experience or partner is necessary. There is no charge to participate. Beginning dances from around the world will be taught the first 45 minutes, with request dancing afterward. Thursday, Sept. 8

Saturday, Sept. 10

•Kalmiopsis Audubon Society will have a birding field trip to Lake Earl. Meet at 7:30 a.m. at Coastal Cardiology, 412 Alder St., Brookings, to car pool. No birding experience is required. •The annual Bike the Rogue cycling event offers two routes for cyclists, with day-of-ride registration at 8 a.m. at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach.

•Oasis Shelter Home provides a haven for women and their children to be free of domestic violence, sexual abuse and resulting homelessness. •The Pregnancy Care Center – also known as P.C.C. Connections – of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. •CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues. The resource center is inside CC’s Upscale Resale Clothing Store in the Brookings-Harbor Shopping Center in Harbor. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
