Marine Corps ball

The U.S. Marine Corps 236th Birthday Ball will be at 5 p.m. at the Brookings Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Drive. For information, call 541-251-4167.

 

Redwood trail hike

Sole Pursuits will lead a hike along the Oregon Redwood Trail above the Winchuck River south of Brookings. To carpool, meet at 8:30 a.m. at Battle Rock Park in Port Orford; at 9:15 a.m. at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach; or at 10 a.m. at Coastal Cardiology, 412 Alder St., Brookings.

 

Quilters open house

Azalea Quilt Guild will host a holiday open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Driftwood Estates Mobile Home Park clubhouse, 16063 Driftwood Lane, Harbor. There will be quilts on display, demonstrations, refreshments served and a Country Store. 

 

Holiday Book Sale

The 21st annual Holiday Book Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., Brookings. A $2 bag sale will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, and during library hours on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 15.

 

Saturday Farmers Market

The Saturday Farmers Market will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chetco Grange Community Center, 97895 Shopping Center Ave., Harbor. 

 

Law of Attraction discussion

The Law of Attraction discussion group meets from 10:15 a.m. to noon. For location, call 541-412-8664. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

Star of the Sea bingo

Bingo is played at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road, Brookings. Quarter bingo starts at 11 a.m. and regular bingo, with a $10 buy-in, follows at 1 p.m. 

 

Second Saturday Brunch

History of Thanksgiving

A veterans breakfast, cosponsored by Vietnam Veterans of America and the Elks Lodge, will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the Brookings Elks Lodge, 800 Elk Drive. Veterans eat free with identification. The cost for the public is $5.

 

Candle Lighting

The National Commemorative Candle Lighting in remembrance of those with Alzheimer’s disease will take place in Brookings at Ocean Park, 984 Parkview Drive. The event is part of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. 

 

Mindfulness meditation

•The Caregiver Support Group will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Sea View Senior Living Community second-floor activity room, 98059 Gerlach Lane, Harbor. Adele Ismert, who works closely with the Alzheimer’s Association and works at Cascade Manor in Eugene, will give a presentation on Alzheimer’s and other dementia. Visitors are welcome.
