The Brookings-Harbor Shoe Exchange will be from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Brookings Elks Lodge lower level, 800 Elk Drive, in conjunction with the Azalea Festival. Shoes of different styles are available in all sizes. All are in good shape and are available for free. Donations of shoes in any condition are accepted at shoe bins at the Brookings Elks Lodge lower level, Smith River School and Julindra Recycling in Crescent City. Southern Oregon Dress a Girl Around the World will be sewing dresses at its booth at Azalea Park. The group makes pillowcase dresses and T-shirt britches for children in Uganda. Donations of pillowcases and T-shirts are welcome. Tickets for a quilt raffle will be sold for $1 each or six for $5. The Coast Guard Auxiliary will start its Saturday Vessel Safety Checks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port of Brookings Harbor launch ramps. The event will continue every Saturday through Labor Day.

Macklyn Place will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior living facility, 755 Elk Drive, Brookings. Resident June Casanova, a World War II veteran, will be honored.
