The Curry County Veterans Service Office will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Curry County Courthouse Annex Blue Room, 94235 Moore St., Gold Beach. The guest speaker will be Brian Guinther, senior chief, U.S. Navy, retired, who is an outreach specialist at the VA Regional Office in Portland. Refreshments will be provided. Star of the Sea Catholic Church will be having a fish fry every Friday through March 22, in observance of Lent. The Azalea Quilt Guild is hosting its second annual National Quilting Day Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Driftwood Estates Mobile Home Park community room, 16063 Driftwood Lane, Harbor. Chetco Activity Center serves up a corned beef and cabbage dinner from noon to 4 p.m. at the center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. The dinner includes salad, vegetables, rolls, beverages and dessert. The cost of dinner is $12. Tickets must be purchased at the reception desk by 4 p.m. Thursday, March 14.

Monday, March 18

League of Women Voters hosts Curry County Sheriff John Bishop who will speak about how the department would be affected by the proposed ballot measure to raise property taxes. The talk will be at 2 p.m. in the Chetco Community Public Library Annext, 402 Alder St., Brookings.

Alzheimer’s Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. in the Chetco Activity Center dining room, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. The group is for anyone who cares for, or has a family member living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. The facilitators are Bharti Patel and Dana Maciel.
