Brookings-Harbor High School class of 2014 will graduate during commencement exercises at 2 p.m. at Bankus Stadium on Fern Avenue in Brookings.
State Parks Day in Oregon will feature open houses throughout the state. An open house will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Harris Beach State Park. Hot dogs, punch and chips will be served behind the park office in the campground. A second open house will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Loeb State Park picnic area. Cake and punch will be served. Guests will be given a tour of the recently upgraded campground.
Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway will be closed to vehicle traffic to allow the public to walk or bike through Prairie Creek State Park between Klamath and Orick, California, 25 miles south of Crescent City. For information, call 707-465-7347.
The Oceans Film Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Gold Beach High School auditorium, 29516 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. Films will be shown all day including “Ocean Adventures” by Jacques Cousteau, “Chasing Ice” and “Ocean Frontiers.” The festival will continue from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8. The cost for a weekend pass for adults is $12 and free for children 16 and younger with a parent. In addition, a full dinner will be served for $10, or $7 with a festival pass. Kalmiopsis Audubon Society is sponsoring a geology auto tour from Red Flat to Hunter Creek. Maggie McHugh, a retired Forest Service geologist, will explain the geology of the area.
