The annual South Coast Writers Conference of Southwestern Oregon Community College comes to Gold Beach with workshops all day today and Saturday, Feb. 15. The Friday Night Author Readings, scheduled for 7 p.m. will be held in the Showcase Building at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. The Curry County Chapter of Oregon Oath Keepers will meet at the Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. The group will discuss the formation of Civilization Preservation Teams. The meeting is open to the public. Oath Keepers is an association of current and former military, police, first responders and citizens who pledge to fulfill the oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

The Pregnancy Care Center of Brookings, located at 344 Pacific Ave., offers free and confidential pregnancy tests, education on all pregnancy options, parenting classes, baby and maternity items and more. CC’s Cancer Resource Center offers free counseling and resource options daily to women addressing cancer issues.
