Monday, Sept. 9

Pelican Bay Arts Association will have its monthly art change-out day from noon to 2 p.m. in the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings.

“Creative Mondays” take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. Attendees may come for only part of the day if wished; a 3 p.m. critique is encouraged. This is not limited to painters, but for any artwork a person wants to work on. Tuesday, Sept. 10

The Dance Zone will be offering a free contemporary dance class for children 8-18 from 3:30 to 4:30 at the studio in The Abbey, 430 Oak St., Brookings. A class will also be offered from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

Thursday, Sept. 12

Pelican Bay Arts Association will have its general meeting at the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings.  The meeting will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch. A demonstration will be at 12:30 p.m. Paul Kingsbury will be demonstrating how to create acrylic seascapes.

Friday, Sept. 13

Brookings Harbor Community Theater presents “The Canterville Ghost” at 7:30 p.m. at the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave. Shows will also be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, as well as the following weekend. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 seniors, $7 students and $5 for children. Tickets may be purchased at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings or New Wave Video in Harbor. The Dance Zone will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to show the public what classes are offered for youth. Snacks will be served. The Dance Zone is located in The Abbey, 430 Oak St., Brookings.

Saturday, Sept. 14

The Pistol River Concert Association presents Al Andulus at 8 p.m. at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Road.  Tickets are $15 each and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, Gold Beach Books and the door.  A $5 student discount or refund is also available at the door.  For ticket reservations or more information, call 541-247-2848 or visit http://www.pistolriver.com.

The Chris Lee and Colleen O’Brien Duo from Boulder, Colo., will perform classic and contemporary jazz, standards and bossa-nova on vibes, cello and voice at 2 p.m. at the Curry Public Library, 94341 Third St., Gold Beach. The concert is free.

The 111th Second Saturday Art Walk will be in downtown Brookings from 4 to 7 p.m. Watch the Curry Coastal Pilot for details about locations and special events.

Sunday, Sept. 15

The final concert of the American Music Festival features the bluegrass sounds of Water Tower at 1 p.m. at the stage in Azalea Park, Brookings. The concert is free.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Del Norte-Curry Community Concert Association present Dallas Brass in concert at 7:30 p.m. at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children and students with identification. Season tickets will be on sale for $45 for the four-concert series. Del Norte County Courthouse, 450 H St., Crescent City: “California, the World and Beyond,” a one-person show by Crescent City artist Muriel Northrip, featuring 11 acrylic paintings.For information, call DNACA at 707-464-1336.
