Saturday, Sept. 28

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre will have its seventh-annual gala at the Veterans Memorial Hall, 810 H St., Crescent City. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. The theater group will have a show celebrating its 35th anniversary at 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 for a single or $120 for a couple and are available at Del Norte Office Supply.

Tony La Torre will perform Elvis songs from noon to 12:30 p.m. during an open house at Macklyn House, 755 Elk Drive, Brookings. The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with tours available to the public. For more information, call Lorraine Swigert at 541-469-7182.

Chetco Pelican Players presents the Mel Brooks musical “Young Frankenstein” at 7:30 p.m. at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Shows will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, as well as the following two weekends. Tickets $12 for adults and $5 for students and are available at Chetco Pharmacy and Gifts and Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, at New Wave Video in Harbor and at the door. Ellensburg Theater Company will hold auditions for the play “Who’s on First,” by Jack Sharkey, at 6 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St., Gold Beach. Two men and two women are needed. A copy of the script is available for reference at the Curry Public Library. Auditions will also be at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30.

Ellensburg Theater Company presents a double-feature radio program at 7:30 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St., Gold Beach. The theater will perform “The Maltese Falcon,” a Sam Spade mystery, and “The Incredible Annalee,” a comedy. Shows will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, as well as the following Friday and Saturday. Tickets, $8, are available at the door. For reservations, call 541-247-4ETC (4382). 

Monday, Sept. 30

“Creative Mondays” take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. Attendees may come for only part of the day if wished; a 3 p.m. critique is encouraged. This is not limited to painters, but for any artwork a person wants to work on. Saturday, Oct. 5

Hootenanny Singalong meets from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. All ages, instruments and voices are welcome. The event is free. For information, call 541-469-6787.

Caravan of Thieves will present a house concert in Harbor. A potluck with the band will be at 5 p.m. with the concert starting at 6. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Curry Coastal Pilot. The Coast Redwoods Art Association’s annual Juried Photography Show will have its reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way Crescent City.  Awards totaling $1,300 in prize money will be given out.  For more information, contact Lee Beising at 707-458-9528, or the gallery at 707-464-9133.

Curry Historical Society present “Cemetery Play” at 7 p.m. at the Rogue Cemetery in Hunter Creek. Costumed thespians will present a living history of those buried at the graveyard. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 7-12 and free for children 6 and younger. Tickets are available at the Curry Historical Museum in Gold Beach or at the cemetery gate.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Pelican Bay Arts Association will meet at Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. The board will meet at its new time, 10 a.m. followed by a general meeting at 11 and a potluck at noon. There will be no demonstration this month. A social time will follow the potluck.
