Wednesday, May 8

Gil Kirk performs vocals and piano from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sebastian’s Seafood Grill, 16011 Boat Basin Road, Harbor. He also performs from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. For information, call 541-412-7977.

Thursday, May 9

Pelican Bay Arts Association general meeting will be at the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. The meeting will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck at noon. At 12:30 p.m., George Cady will discuss copyright issues.

A week of Russian Culture, sponsored by the Mildred Hill Concert Series, Triangle Square Art and Port Orford and Langlois libraries, presents five singers from St. Petersburg, Russia, performing church music and folk songs. They sing a capella in old Russian and explain the connections to modern music as well as the liturgical connections between Christianity and Orthodox Russian Christianity. Admission is $10 for adults and free for those younger than 18.

Eco-craft night is at 6 p.m. at Jessica’s Cosmic Cafe, 604 Railroad St., Brookings. Come learn to make crafts, art and other things from recycled materials.

Friday, May 10

Auditions for the TV inspired “Cop Kids The Animated Series, Episode 7: Mystery in My Plant,” will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Azalea Park stage. Writer and Director Steven Dornbusch needs 20 young people in grades eight through 12. Performances will be in September at the Chetco Playhouse. Stagelights Musical Arts Community presents the  acoustic duo Bill and Kate Isles singing and storytelling at 7:30 p.m. at the Harbor Performing Arts Theater, 97900 Shopping Center Ave.

Shawn Ratnour and friends will perform at 7 p.m. at Vista Pub, 1009 Chetco Ave., Brookings.

Jerry Moffit performs on keyboard from 6 to 9 p.m. at Nautical Inn, 16850 Highway 101, Smith River.

Gary Lowdon performs on saxophone from 6 to 9 p.m. at O’Holleran’s Restaurant and Lounge, 1210 Chetco Ave., Brookings. He also performs from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Old Time Music Jam will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at  Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. Musicians of all ages are welcome. For information, call 541-469-6822.

Open Mic Night is at 7 p.m. at Jessica’s Cosmic Cafe, 604 Railroad St., Brookings. Bring an instrument, poetry, a story or a singing voice. All are welcome.

Saturday, May 11

The Act!vated Story Theatre will perform at 2 p.m. at the Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., Brookings. The event is free and open to the public. A pre-show workshop for children 6 and older will begin at 1:30. To enroll children, call Dori Blodgett at 541-469-7738.

The 107th Second Saturday Art Walk will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at venues within walking distance of Chetco Avenue, Oak Street and Art Walk Alley. Special events, music and art will be highlighted.

The Pistol River Concert Association presents Tracy Grammer at 8 p.m. at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Road, Pistol River.  Admission is $15. Tickets are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings and Gold Beach Books in Gold Beach.

Tuesday, May 14

Audi Stanton will teach an acrylic painting workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Class size limited. Call 541-412-7948 for more information and to register.

Friday, May 17

Cornerstone Bible Institute of South Dakota will perform handbells and sing during a concert at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Community Church, 607 Pacific Ave., Brookings.

Saturday, May 18

America’s Wild Rivers Coast Wine, Art and Music Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. Admission is $10. The event will also be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19.

Sunday, May 19

Friends of Music presents Eugene Brancoeanu and Marie Plette in concert at 3 p.m. at Brookings Seventh-day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave. Tickets are $20 for general and free for students and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, The Book Dock in Harbor and at the door.

Art Exhibits

Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City: Featured is Oregon artist Eva Marie Tanner-Klaas who draws, paints and works in ceramics. Also on display are pieces by other gallery members. For information, call 707-464-9133.

Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings: Featured artist: Claudia Mach. The gallery theme is “Earth’s Four Elements.” Classroom panels include the works of Jewell Johnson, Christina Olsen, Audi Stanton, Frank Gustafson, Donald Christiano, Jane Turner and the Mudslingers.
