Wednesday, May 29

Gil Kirk performs vocals and piano from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sebastian’s Seafood Grill, 16011 Boat Basin Road, Harbor. He also performs from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays. For information, call 541-412-7977.

Thursday, May 30

The 17th annual Mr. BHHS competition will be at 6:30 p.m. at Redwood Theater, 621 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Five Brookings-Harbor High School young men will compete for a crown to raise money for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland. Admission is $5. T-shirts are also being sold for $12 each or $20 for two, both of which include admission.

Eco-craft night is at 6 p.m. at Jessica’s Cosmic Cafe, 604 Railroad St., Brookings. Come learn to make crafts, art and other things from recycled materials.

Friday, May 31

Artistic License will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave. Brookings. Writings about artwork and photography will be presented as well as an opportunity to meet artist Gary Wahlbeck.

Brookings Harbor Community Theater presents “Beauty and the Beast” at 7:30 p.m. at the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave. Final performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1 and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for students and children. Tickets may be purchased at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, New Wave Video in Harbor and at the door. For information and reservations, call 541-469-4700.

Jerry Moffit performs on keyboard from 6 to 9 p.m. at Nautical Inn, 16850 Highway 101, Smith River.

Gary Lowdon performs on saxophone from 6 to 9 p.m. at O’Holleran’s Restaurant and Lounge, 1210 Chetco Ave., Brookings. He also performs from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Old Time Music Jam will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at  Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. Musicians of all ages are welcome. For information, call 541-469-6822.

Open Mic Night is at 7 p.m. at Jessica’s Cosmic Cafe, 604 Railroad St., Brookings. Bring an instrument, poetry, a story or a singing voice. All are welcome.

Saturday, June 1

Hootenanny Singalong meets from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. All ages, instruments and voices are welcome. The event is free. For information, call 541-469-6787.

Ellensburg Theater Company will have auditions for the comedy musical “Lucky Stiff” at 7 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St., Gold Beach. Those auditioning should bring a song to sing. It may be sung a capella or with an accompaniment compact disc. Those auditioning must be 15 or older. Auditions will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2, as well as the following weekend. Sunday, June 2

Tsunami Swing Band and the Del Norte High School Jazz Band will perform for the American Music Festival’s first concert in the park of the 2013 season. The concert will be at 1 p.m. at the Azalea Park bandshell, Brookings. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted.

Tuesday, June 4

Del Norte High School music program will present its annual spring vocal concert at 7 p.m. at Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City.  Performing a variety of musical styles, from pop and jazz to classical, will be the women’s chamber ensemble, the performance choir and the Madrigals.  Tickets cost $5 for adults, and $3 for students and seniors at the door.

Saturday, June 8

The 108th Second Saturday Art Walk will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at venues within walking distance of Chetco Avenue, Oak Street and Art Walk Alley. Special events, music and art will be highlighted.


Singing telegrams by Georgia Blank, who specializes in old hymns, are being offered to lift spirits at no charge. To schedule a singing telegram, call 541-469-5625.

Pelican Bay Arts Association offers an art rental program for businesses with empty wall space. For more information about the program, call the Manley Art Center and Gallery at 541-469-1807.
