Arts Scene March 30, 2013

Monday, April 1

“Creative Mondays” take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. Attendees may come for only part of the day if wished; a 3 p.m. critique is encouraged. This is not limited to painters, but for any artwork a person wants to work on. Thursday, April 4

Pato Banton and The Now Generation will perform a free reggae concert at 9 p.m. at 101 Bar and Grill, 98141 W. Benham Lane, Harbor. Opening the concert will be local musician Sequoyah Oregon. Those attending must be 21 or older.

Saturday, April 6

Hootenanny Singalong meets from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. All ages, instruments and voices are welcome. The event is free. For information, call 541-469-6787.

Thursday, April 11

Pelican Bay Arts Association will meet at Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. The meeting will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck.  At 12:30  p.m., Frank (Gus) Gustafson will demonstrate oil painting.  Gustafson is artist of the month. The gallery theme for April is “Close Ups.”

Friday, April 12

Chetco Pelican Players presents “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” at 7:30 p.m. at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Shows will also be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, as well as the following two weekends. Tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for students and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies and Chetco Pharmacy and Gifts in Brookings, New Wave Video in Harbor and at the door.
