Artist Doris Winger will be giving a demonstration on working clay at noon at Crescent Harbor Art Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. She will show how to decorate a leaf platter and a clay flute. A finger-food luncheon will precede the demonstration at 11:30. The event is free. For more information, call 707-464-9133.
Ellensburg Theater Company will hold auditions for the melodrama “The Ballad of Gopher Gap” at 6:30 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St., Gold Beach. Director Valerie MacGillivary needs five men and six women 16 and older. Auditions will also be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 29.

The first Artistic License program will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at Brian Scott Gallery, 515 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Local writers Angela Ewing, LynnGuild, Shirley Hyatt and Horst Wolf will show and talk about “Art That Inspired Me.” Complimentary wind and cheese will be served.
The seventh annual Writers’ Round Up in Port Orford begins at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 421 11th St. The event continues from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the hall, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the Port Orford Library, 1421 Oregon St. For more information, call Tobe Porter at 541-332-8899.

The Art in Public Places exhibit showing in the Del Norte County Courthouse is a one person show titled “Student of Life” by painter Susan Moore, who won first place in DNACA’s annual juried show.
