The Shifty Sailors from Whidbey Island, Wash., presents a benefit concert for the St. George Reef Lighthouse at 7:30 p.m. at the Crescent Elk Auditorium, 994 G St., Crescent City.

Thursday, June 27

John Hewitt will be giving a watercolor lesson at the Fourth Thursday Art Demonstration at noon at Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. A finger-food luncheon will be at 11:30 prior to the workshop. All are welcome. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Lighthouse Repertory Theater presents its annual Fourth of July melodrama at 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 664 H St., Crescent City. Performances will also be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 28, 29 and 30.

The third-annual Driftwood Art and Fun Frenetic Sculpture Contest will be in front of Fely’s Restaurant at Sporthaven Beach at the Port of Brookings Harbor. Contestants will create sculptures from driftwood and debris picked up off the beach. Entry deadline is at noon with judging at 3 p.m. For more information and contest rules, call Nan Villalvazo at Boardwalk Mail Services at 541-469-2500 or Pat Silveria at Slugs ’N’ Stones ’N’ Ice Cream Cones at 541-469-SLUG (7584).

Country music singer and songwriter Bobby Bare will perform at 7 p.m. in the Tolowa Event Center at Lucky 7 Casino, 350 N. Indian Road, Smith River.  Tickets are $29 for regular admission, $39 for VIP. For information, call 707-487-7777.

Sunday, June 30

American Music Festival presents the blues sounds of the Cee Cee James Band at 1 p.m. at the Azalea Park stage. The concert is free.

The monthly art change-out day at Manley Art Center and Gallery will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings. The gallery theme is “The Wonderful World of Color.” For more information, call Jane Opiat at 541-469-1246.

Fourth of July special jazz night — featuring Jerry and Al on guitars and Rob on drums —will be at 7 p.m. at The Vista Pub, 1009 Chetco Ave., Brookings. For more information, call 541-813-1638.

Wright’s Custom Frame Shop, 810 Chetco Ave., Brookings: Len Burton shows paintings of lighthouses along the Pacific Coast in the small gallery. The show will hang through June and July. Also showing are the works of several artists throughout the store. For information, call 541-469-7900.

Singing telegrams by Georgia Blank, who specializes in old hymns, are being offered to lift spirits at no charge. To schedule a singing telegram, call 541-469-5625.
