Saturday, Aug. 31

Chetco Grange 765 will host a community dance from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chetco Grange Community Center, 97895 Shopping Center Ave., Harbor. Music will be performed by Jurassic Country. There is no cover charge. PEO will serve refreshments. Donations accepted. For more information, call 541-469-2445.

Pistol River Concert Association presents The Barn Birds at 8 p.m. at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Road. Tickets are $15 and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, Gold Beach Books in Gold Beach, at the door, by calling 541-247-2848 or visiting http://www.pistolriver.com.

The Spence Brothers Band will play from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tolowa Event Center at Lucky 7 Casino and Hotel, 350 N. Indian Road, Smith River. The concert is free.

Brookings Harbor Community Theater presents the final show of “The 12 Dancing Princesses” at 2 p.m. at the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for lap sitters. Tickets are available at New Wave Video in Harbor and Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings. For information or reservations, call 541-469-4700.

The 2013 annual National Juried Art Competition reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. Awards will be presented. All are welcome.

Jurassic Country performs from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ship Ashore Resort, 12370 Highway 101, Smith River. 

Tuesday, Sept. 3

Saturday, Sept. 7

Hootenanny Singalong meets from noon to 2 p.m. at the Chetco Activity Center, 550 Chetco Lane, Brookings. All ages, instruments and voices are welcome. The event is free. For information, call 541-469-6787.

A public screening of “Love in the Time of Monsters” will be at Crescent City Cinemas, 375 M St., Crescent City. A red carpet event will begin at 6 p.m. where people can meet the writer, producer and cast members. The movie starts at 7. Tickets are $20 and are available at Del Norte Office Supply or Crescent City-Del Norte Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the screening of this movie, filmed at Patrick Creek Lodge and Trees of Mystery, benefit Lighthouse Repertory Theatre. For more information, call 707-464-3174.

The sixth annual Gold Beach Brew and Art Fest will be from noon to 10 p.m. at the Event Center on the Beach, 29392 Ellensburg Ave., Gold Beach. It will offer microbrews, artwork and a car show.

Monday, Sept. 9

Pelican Bay Arts Association will have its monthly art change-out day from noon to 2 p.m. in the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings.

Thursday, Sept. 12

Pelican Bay Arts Association will have its general meeting at the Manley Art Center and Gallery, 433 Oak St., Brookings.  The meeting will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch. A demonstration will be at 12:30 p.m. Paul Kingsbury will be demonstrating how to create acrylic seascapes.
