Saturday, Aug. 9

Battle of the Bands will be from noon to 10 p.m. at 101 Bar and Grill, 98141 W. Benham Lane, Harbor. Nine bands from Eugene to Eureka will be competing for prizes. The event will include a free barbecue beginning at 1 p.m.

The 119th Second Saturday Art Walk will be from 3 to 6 p.m. at eight venues within walking distance of Chetco Avenue and Oak Street in Brookings. The event includes art, presentations, music and food.

Pistol River Concert Association presents Betty and the Boy in concert at 8 p.m. at the Pistol River Friendship Hall, 24252 Carpenterville Road. Tickets are $15 and are available in Brookings at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies, in Gold Beach at Gold Beach Books and at the door. On Streets of Gold will feature Canadian performer Manafest in concert at Azalea Park in Brookings. Also performing are JoYful NoiZe from Coos Bay, 4:12 United from Gold Beach and Red-Letter Jesus from Brookings. The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Chetco Pelican Players presents “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” at 7:30 p.m. at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings. The final show will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10. American Music Festival presents the Moon Mountain Ramblers in concert at 1 p.m. at the Azalea Park stage. The concert is free.

Monday, Aug. 11

“Creative Mondays” take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. Attendees may come for only part of the day if wished; a 3 p.m. critique is encouraged. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Tuesday, Aug. 12

Dragon Theater Puppets will perform a show about the history, science, invention and safety behind electricity at 2 p.m. at Chetco Community Public Library, 405 Alder St., Brookings. This free presentation is sponsored by Friends of the Library. For more information, call 541-469-7738.

Thursday, Aug. 14

Pelican Bay Arts Association meets at the Manley Art Center. The general meeting will be at 11 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch. At 12:30 p.m., Audi Stanton will do an interactive “stick and India ink” demonstration. For more information, call 541-469-1807. 

Curry Public Library hosts an international film series through mid-September. The 1997 Italian film “Life is Beautiful” will be shown at 6 p.m. People are welcome to bring their own snacks. Friday, Aug. 15

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre presents “November” at 7:30 p.m. at the Chetco Playhouse, 1240 Chetco Ave., Brookings. Performances will also be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. The play will continue the following weekend in Crescent City. Tickets are $12 and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City and at the door.
