Saturday, Aug. 23

Stagelights Musical Arts Community presents the third annual “Day of Drums,” a four-hour percussion event for all ages and skill levels, at 10 a.m. at the Harris Beach Rest Area, 1650 Highway 101, Brookings.  The event fee is $10 per person. Space is limited to the first 60 people.

Comedienne Susan Jones will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. at Elk Valley Casino, 2500 Howland Hill Road, Crescent City. Tickets are $10. Guests must be 21 and older. For more information, call 707-464-1020.

Lighthouse Repertory Theatre presents “November” at 7:30 p.m. in the College of the Redwoods Del Norte Education Center library, 883 W. Washington Blvd., Crescent City. The final performance will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. Tickets are $12 and are available at Wright’s Custom Framing and Art Supplies in Brookings, Del Norte Office Supply in Crescent City and at the door.

Ellensburg Theater Company presents “The Secret Garden” at 7:30 p.m. at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 Moore St., Gold Beach. Performances will also be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, as well as the following weekend. Tickets are available in Gold Beach at The Coffee Dock, Gold Beach Books and at the door. Sunday, Aug. 24

American Music Festival presents  West My Friend in concert at 1 p.m. at the Azalea Park stage. The concert is free.

Brookings Harbor Community Theater will present a potluck dinner and meeting to hear what the community would like to see staged during the 2015 season. The event will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Harbor Performing Arts Center, 97900 Shopping Center Ave. For more information, call board President Lynette McPherson at 541-661-2321.

Wednesday, Aug. 27

Curry Public Library hosts an international film series through mid-September. The 1954 Japanese film “Seven Samarai” will be shown at 6 p.m. Part two will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28. Thursday, Aug. 28

Brookings artist Audi Stanton will be giving the Fourth Thursday Art Demo at noon at Crescent Harbor Gallery, 140 Marine Way, Crescent City. The demonstration will be preceded by a finger-food lunch at 11:30. The presentation will be on mixing colors using oil, watercolor and acrylics. For more information, call 707-464-9133.

Saturday, Aug. 30

A fifth Saturday dance will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Chetco Grange Community Center, 97895 Shopping Center Ave., Harbor. There is no cover charge. The Coast Hour Exchange (barter group) will be providing refreshments.

Curry Public Library hosts an international film series through mid-September.
