The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, high-masted replicas of past maritime ships, are schedule to sail into Crescent City Harbor on Monday, April 21, for an eight-day visit featuring nautical history activities. Full story and schedule on Page 10A.
 

CRECENT CITY — With massive, fossil-fueled vessels ruling today’s modern seas, it’s humbling to be reminded of the wind-powered tall ships of the past.

South Coast residents will have that chance next week when the tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, high-masted replicas of past maritime ships, return April 21-28.

Series of election forums scheduled

As the May 20 primary election nears, Curry County voters puzzling over commissioner and circuit court judge candidates, and the Home Rule Charter ballot measure, may want to attend a series of several public forums that start today and continue through next week.

The Brookings Tea Party will host a county commissioner candidate forum at 2 p.m. today (April 19) at the Chetco Activity Center in Brookings.
