American Musical Festival announces summer concerts

The Stagelights house band will perform during a summer musical variety show at Azalea Park.
The American Music Festival has finalized dates and performers for the 2010 series of eight concerts in Azalea Park.

All the free concerts take place at 1 p.m. at the outdoor stage in the park. Sponsorships and donations by the audience, along with volunteer support, pay for the cost of the events.

The concerts, the performers and the types of music include:

•June 13, Golden Bough,  Celtic music;

•June 20, Keith Greeninger and City Folk, contemporary folk;

•July 11, Craig Allen Blues Band, red hot blues;

•July 25, Tsunami Swing Band, jazz and swing;

•Aug. 1, Stagelights Variety Show, rock, pop, folk, country;

•Aug. 15, Deadwood Revival, old-time “jamgrass”;

•Aug. 29, Sans Prophet, classic rock and blues;

•Sept. 12, Sweet Town Little, country.

Concert-goers should bring their own seating – chairs or blankets. The Rotary Club of Brookings-Harbor plans to operate its Snack Shack during each of the concerts.

In case of bad weather, the concerts move to the Redwood Theater in downtown Brookings.

The concerts are operated by a volunteer board under the non-profit Brookings Area Council for the Arts.

For information on becoming a donor or sponsor of the concerts, please contact Les Cohen at the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce, 541-469-3181 or 800-535-9469.
