Maxine Clara Dauphin Ubrick

Maxine Clara Dauphin Ubrick
Maxine Clara Dauphin Ubrick, 79, of Brookings died Sunday Feb. 21, 2010, in a care facility in Eureka, Calif., after a long illness with cancer.

She was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Westmoreland, Pa., to William Otto Dauphin and Christina May Woods. She graduated from Mooreland High School in Mooreland, Okla., in June 1948.

She married Roland Wayne Ubrick in Reno, Nev., on March 10, 1979.

The Ubrick’s fell in love with Brookings and retired to Curry County more than 22 years ago.

Maxine had a zest for life.  She had a wonderful marriage of 26 years and considered the highlights of her life to be her husband, children, grandchildren, her cats, traveling around the world with her husband, family and friends. They took many trips over the years and saw many parts of the world.  She loved to entertain friends and family, cooking fantastic meals. She loved to laugh and loved to make others happy. She volunteered at the local food pantry for several years. She loved hats and garage sales, books and antiques. Her passion in life was for giving “caring” at hospitals: rubbing the feet of ladies who were ill. She had a heart for those that were under the weather and delivered many meals to those in need. She was an active member of Brookings-Harbor Christian Church.

Survivors include her sister Janet Emmerson and husband Laverle of Arkansas, Kan.; her brother Karl Dauphin of Woodward, Okla., her brother Dwight Dauphin and Nancy of Pueblo, Colo.; sister Mary Cain and husband Mickey of Little Rock, Ark.; son Richard Ubrick and wife Fran of Castro Valley, Calif.; daughter Catherine Byrd and husband Jerry of Bozeman, Mont.; son Randall Ubrick; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Roland W. Ubrick.

A memorial service will be on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Brookings-Harbor Christian Church, 777 Fifth St., with Pastor Lance Knauss officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to C.C.’s (Clothes for Cancer), P.O. Box 3078, Harbor, OR 97415.
