High wind warnings issued for overnight

Gusts could reach up to 80 mph on coastal headlands late Thursday or early Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

 

The National Weather Service has issued high wind warnings for Thursday night and Friday morning as another cold front moves onshore along the Wild Rivers Coast. 

The Weather Service says south and southwest winds will increase to to 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 50 and 60 mph late Thursday afternoon, with gusts up to 80 mph on coastal headlands. Friday morning the winds will shift to southwest and west, lower in force but still above warning levels.

 
The Weather Service warning runs from 4 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday, followed by a 90 to 100 percent chance of rainfall through Saturday night.
