A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at Brookings Harbor Christian Church, 777 Fifth St., Brookings.

Dorothy was born in Reedsport, Dec. 13, 1920, to Samuel and Hildur (Findley) Scott.

She grew up in Reedsport and graduated from Reedsport High School.

She  met and married Max Carlson in 1940 in Reedsport. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1977.

Dorothy was a homemaker and lived in Brookings for approximately the last 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafting as well as knitting, crocheting and traveling; she had a real sense of adventure. She loved the ocean and the beach, and  especially being with her family. Dorothy also had many extended family members: Known to have an open-door policy, she was “Grandma” to many kids who loved her dearly.

Survivors include son Larry Carlson of Lincoln, Calif.; daughter Shellie Carlson of Bend. Also surviving are  nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Max; son Scott August Carlson;  daughter Joanne Marie Plummer.
