U.S. Army Pfc. Kimble Andrus Han, 30, of Saratoga Springs, Utah, was killed by a roadside bomb Oct. 23, 2009, in Afghanistan.
Kimble was born Aug. 17, 1979, in Gold Beach to Lisa Louise Barnes and William “Bill” Han.
He grew up in Brookings, Medford and North Bend, Wash., and attended grade school and middle school in Brookings.
Kimble married Melissa Lund, Feb. 2, 2009, in Las Vegas.
Kimble was an excellent athlete who loved all sports, especially baseball, football and basketball.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas.
Kimble was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.
Survivors include wife Melissa Lund Han of Las Vegas; mother Lisa Barnes of Saratoga Springs; brothers Logan Han, Jerod Han; sisters Malea Lyons, Brittany Campbell, Alyssa Han, Haley Han, Natalie Brooks; grandparents Mary Ellen and Carrol “Cuddy” White of Brookings. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Han.
A service will be at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, in Saratoga Springs.
